Hello everyone,

First off, thank you to Jim Hart and Lori for hosting last month’s meeting at Jim’s place in Zelienople. I was on vacation, but heard it was a nice evening and well attended. Thank you also to Norb for filling in for me!

This past weekend, August 24th, was our annual Highland Open golf outing at Kane Country Club. Although I can’t remember how many years we’ve had this, I would imagine it has to be over 30 years now! We had 17 golfers who enjoyed great weather and good eats as usual. Dick Neal was this years winner. Thank you to Bill Eastley for continuing this annual event that helps use our club-house year round.

Last month’s event, Thunder in the Forest, was once again well attended although some what damp. However, that didn’t dampen our enthusiasm! Michael and committee thanks everyone who attended or helped out, and even with the wet weather, this was our second biggest Thunder event. Special thanks to Dean Cercone for cooking, Sandy Mueller for her unrelenting pursuit of prizes, Michael and committee for organizing and Ken Kelly, Deb Keyes, and Franco Harris for their generosity. It still amazes this President how much fun and enthusiasm you members and your friends can generate for this very noble cause, and I thank you! The proceeds were split three ways between Pa. Breast Cancer Coalition, Susan G. Koman, and Michael’s sister, Barb Steinmetz. Thank you all again who helped, participated, or donated!

Jim Wolf drove down from Kane for the meeting (talk about enthusiasm), and reported that Tim Kelly and himself have been busy spending their RAC Grant money in the forest. Please take the time to check out Tim’s trail report on our web site, and Thank Jim and Tim when you see them for their trail efforts! The meeting between the Forest Service and snowmobile club’s will again be hosted by the Snowseeker’s at the clubhouse on October 13th at 9a.m.

Once again, your yearly dues are now payable and overdue in September. Also, garage sled storage fee’s are due at $50 per sled, and your sled’s must be registered. Please pay both ASAP. Thank you.

I have talked to PSSA about the fact that we are, and always will be, a 100% PSSA membership club and would like recognition as such in the paper. They promise it will be rectified in this issue of the state paper. Bob Bowers, your Region #2 Director, has obtained an older model of a snow-cam for our use until we can get approved for a new one. We are still looking for someone to head up this project for the upcoming riding season. Please see Bob or your President if interested! Bob also says we have been turned down for our Round #3 State grant, due to some issues with the Forest Service. He promises he will pursue more grant monies in the next round, so thank you Bob and Sharon for your efforts!

Please note the club house address has changed for 911 response purposes. It is now 13026 Route 948, Highland Corners, PA. 16735. Please put in your phones, computers, etc. It also works with GPS when you are trying to explain to your friends where we are located! Check it out.

The Corn Hole Tournament originally scheduled for September 8th has been postponed. With our other charity fundraisers doing so well, it was felt we have a full enough slate of events for now.

Also, the September 6th meeting will be at Mueller Hollow instead of Bear Run Campground due to a scheduling conflict. As usual, please bring a covered dish or dessert, your club will provide grill fare, etc. Eat at 6:00 p.m., meeting to follow. We will then start back at the Harmony Moose in October for meetings. (where did summer go)?

The kitchen up-grade is progressing. The cabinets are hung and look great, along with the center island set. I would imagine the oak countertop will be next that Tim Kelly built and the Hayes’ are now finishing. Someone also made some great looking window valances that are up! (I think I know who sewed them, thank you)! Next will be the sink beside the grill, water filters, overhood venting then fire suppression and lighting. There is plenty to do if you would like to contribute. It’s fun and is starting to look great!! Thank you to all who have contributed ideas and manpower, there’s been many who have stepped up!

All in all, it’s been a great summer for the Snowseeker’s. My first year in office has been a breeze, thanks to you members and your great idea’s backed up by your enthusiam! We have had 3 great events to use our clubhouse along with 2 well organized fund-raiser’s to raise the means to run our club. The bills are paid, the clubhouse is looking better and better, and the meeting’s have been well attended and constructive. The board, officer’s and I thank you all for the last year, and we are looking toward’s a great winter and another busy year!!

Mark & Sandy
