Hello Everyone,

Well, this winter started off with a bang as we had good snow all through bear and deer seasons and into the New Year, with riding to be had at the clubhouse the first weekend of 2014. Then…well, it’s been COLD and that’s about it! Some members have been to the U.P. of Michigan with a few more heading to Gaylord soon, with another group heading to Gaspe’, Quebec in late February. Hopefully, the cold will stay and snow will return to Western Pa. and N.Y soon!

Our 1st Winter Raffle was a success with the winning ticket #804 matching the Christmas Eve Pa. Daily Number, belonging to Ray Guckert and sold by Scott Wilke. Ray picked up his wife’s new Polaris quad at Off Road Express before New Years and even called Mike to thank him. Congratulations to Ray, Scott, Off Road Express, and Mike & Lauraine McHugh for coming up with the raffle idea and running a good raffle to the end. Also, thank you to all members who sold tickets, drove the raffle trailer to different events, and took the time to make it a success. You know who you are, and Kudo’s to all of you! Mike will have a report at February’s meeting.

The club would like to remind all riders that your drivers license, sled registration and proof of insurance are all required while riding on the ANF trails. A few members have reported that the Pa. Game Commission, of all people, have been in the Jakes Rocks area’s checking for such items on both weekends that we’ve had riding this year, so be warned.

Premium Gas is once again available for $4.00 a gallon at the club-house. Please be sure to write your quantities down immediately after filling your sleds. Isopropyl has been added to the tank and will be added again after it is filled again. Rich say’s everyone did real well with taking care of their gas and lodging New Years weekend so let’s keep it up. On the garage end also, Scott Thomas reminds us to leave the power on at the fuse box so the dusk to dawn light at the man-door will still work. When locking up the garage, just make sure the power is off to the pump by shutting off the wall switch. If the light above the pump is off, the power to the pump is off. Thank you!

The club welcomes new regular member’s Lou & Cindy Rago from Coraopolis. Lou says he has 4 sleds and they are 4 different makes?? We’ll see. Welcome aboard Lou & Cindy! The club also acted on Doug Kyes application as he changed it from Associate to Regular member. Doug will be at the next meeting, where we will welcome him and his wife Deb as regular member’s. Welcome Doug & Deb!

The club will host it’s 4th Annual Spring Bash/Raffle again on Saturday, May 10th, at St. Ferdinand Church in Cranberry Twp., PA., (same venue as last year). The Bash Committee decided to have all cash prizes this year as thats what ticket buyers requested. There was a question by some members and buyers if you could win more than 1 prize on the same ticket. The simple answer for your buyers is yes, in other words, if you win a prize your ticket is put back in the raffle and you can continue to win prizes, including the grand prize. We hope this clears up any confusion. Please see Sandy Harris if you haven’t gotten your allotment of tickets and turn in sold tickets and monies to Cathy Wright.

As I finish up this month’s ramblins’, it is snowing like it means it with more on the way and below freezing temps well into February. All trails have been opened in Chautauqua Co., N.Y. and Erie Co., Pa., with the ANF reporting fair conditions. There is plenty of riding events in February (see below), so get out and enjoy!

Hopefully, the clubhouse will see many members up next weekend for the 1st of February and well into March! If anyone can stay for a Super Bowl party on Sunday, post same on our web page or Facebook page, including riding conditions from this past weekend. (Come on, I know you all can do it)! Nothing makes this President happier than a club-house full of boisterous Snowseeker’s and a yard full of sled’s and trailers! Hope to see you there!

Think Snow,
Mark & Sandy
